Kia UVO Luxury Services: More Better Connectivity Services for K900 Buyers

2016 Kia K900

-

Besides introducing a new V-6 engine option to the 2016 K900, Kia also is rolling out a new batch of connectivity features on the great, big luxury sedan: UVO Luxury Services. An extension of the existing UVO eServices system, which is run via a user’s phone using the UVO eServices app, UVO Luxury Services builds in a few new features enabled by the K900’s standard onboard LTE data connection.

Like the regular UVO eServices suite, the more luxurious version mostly runs off of an app downloaded to an owner’s smartphone; in this case, it’s named the UVO Luxury Services app. The app enables the same 911 emergency notification, remote vehicle diagnostics, and “enhanced” roadside-assistance (essentially, a 24/7 roadside-assistance call center) features as does its lesser eServices sibling. Also like the original app, owners can set up curfew and speed alerts, as well as establish “geofences” and receive alerts when their car makes its way outside of those limits. Where UVO Luxury Services differs is its incorporation of onboard Google local search, which enables drivers to make point-of-interest searches from the car using the onboard LTE data connection; owners of lesser Kias must search for destinations on their phones before sending them to their eServices app and pushing them to their car with a Bluetooth-paired phone.

Other new features unlocked, pun intended, by the K900‘s onboard LTE connection? The ability to lock and unlock the doors remotely via the Luxury Services app, as well as start or stop the engine, and initiate the climate-control system. Owners also can schedule dealership service appointments from the car. Best of all, at least for K900 owners, is that the app is free, as is the use of the related services for the first five years of ownership.
